The Dutch (Amsterdam) metal band Dark Reign originally formed September 2002.
They describe their style as: Melodic Death mixed with trash and a sniff of doom.
Their influences range from old school bands
(Slayer, Pantera, Megadeth, Metallica, Machine head, Sepultura)
to bands of a later generation
(Lamb of God, Scar Symmetry, All that remains and even Opeth).

In 2004 Dark Reign become second at the ' Amstelveense Popprijs'.
Dark Reign recorded 2 demos in the past.
The song Why This Life appeared on the Fearsome records compilation Blown to Pieces 3 which was released January 2005.

In 2006 Dark Reign played at the Aaltjes Rock festival 2006 together with Dutch metal acts
Asrai, The Lucifer Principle, Heidevolk and the famous German trash metal band Holy Moses.

In 2008 four of the original band members decided to quit due to personal circumstances.
David (Ko) the guitarist of Dark Reign didn't want to throw the towel in the ring and still had the passion for this band.
He decided to reform Dark Reign. Several months later in 2009, Dark Reign was reborn!

In 2009 and 2010 Dark Reign shared the stage with a lot of upcoming metal bands like:
Porco Dio, Seita, Ethereal and Eminence.

In 2010 Dark Reign appeared on the Dutch Grind house movie soundtrack 'An Alchemist's Grind house' and on the
Imperative MusicCompilation volume IV with the song Premonition.
Dark Reign is proud to announce that their new E.P. 'From Grief to Greatness' finally sees the light of day in the year 2011.
