3 November 2010 - Dark Reign, looking for a new shredder
Due to other ambitions our brother Mark van der Giessen left the Dark Reign family. We wish him all the best!

We our now looking for a new shredder on the six or seven string. Here is our pitch:

Semi-Professional metal band Dark Reign from the Netherlands is looking for a new guitarist.

The style we play ranges from thrashmetal to melodic Deathmetal and we practice every week on Tuesday evening in Amsterdam. Because of the upcoming release of our mini-CD we will perform frequently in the near future, we are also working hard on the next CD, the mini-CD will be distributed worldwide through a record company.

What we're looking for in a musician. - Experience with performances and in possession of gear (at least, guitar, effect pedals and head. Cabinet is a plus, but not a hard requirement). - Experience with composing, of which we'll want to hear examples (preferably sent in your mail response to this ad). - Willing and skilled enough to learn a set of 45 minutes to one hour well enough to perform within two months. - Willing to take time off work for recording the next CD.

Own transport and / or recording equipment is a plus, not a firm requirement.

What we can offer is: - A band that can deliver almost anything that's needed to produce a CD, ranging from music and recordings to professional photos, design of covers and so on. - Private recording studio. - Experienced musicians who are enthusiastic and take all decisions in consultation with eachother. - Despite working hard, we endeavour to keep making music fun.

Dark Reign is proud to announce that our new song Premonition, which will be released on our next record, is chosen to also be released on the movie soundtrack 'An Alchemist's Grindhouse'.

Here is a description of the movie: First film by Kanslös Gigs n' Crap! Dark, evil, and bloody funny. Warning: violence, excessive alcohol abuse, foul language and weird stuff! It's a cross-over between The Addams Family and The Guesthouse Paradiso... in GrindHouse style!

Plot: Three alchemists live together inharmoniously on Duchess Isolde's darkened lands, with a lot of violence and loads of foul language. They heavily use booze, nicotine and more magical things. Thanks to the potion of Smyphony the Ancient Alchemist, they are as good as immortal. Who dare's defy them still, is confronted with the magic of Lucia the Snakewitch and the sword of Althotas the Germanic Brewer. The potion, composed of alcohol, chocolate, nicotine and THC and bound with prypylon, has but one disadvantage: the components are affected by the full moon, therefore sex during full moon leads to spontaneous combustion. Duringtheir search for the fifth element to fix this problem, the alchemist's receive bad news and have to call in the help of very old 'friends'.

Bravo for the sick creative mind! The soundtrack with the different briliant underground metalbands is becoming a masterpiece, so all ingredients for an oldschool absurd evening are provided for!

Dark Reign will headline a metalfestival on the 19th of June at the Winston Kingdom in Amsterdam.

Dark Reign had some delays and are still busy recording their next record.
The title of their next record is ' From grief to greatness'.
The first 3 out of 6 songs are recorded but we've still got a lot of mixing to do:

- Epileptic Seizure
- Misery loves company.

THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY:

The BAD news: Due to musical differances, singer Juan Pablo Olarte decided to leave Dark Reign. We thank him with all our heart for the all work and effort he put into D.R. and wish him all the best!

The GOOD news: Our first singer Mathijs Stegeman has returned to D.R. since the end of November. Besides that... This year 2007 Dark Reign exists for 5 years... D.R. will celebrate their 5 year anniversary on the 25th of November in The Winston in Amsterdam. Stay tuned for more info about this cool fucking thing!

The UGLY news: Due to shity circumstances, D.R. still haven´t recorded their next demo. But... this only gives us more time to create more new songs and make them more evil, wicked and awsome.

Dark Reign booked two new gigs:

21 February 2007 Great news... Dark Reign will soon record a new demo album.

It will be their 3rd release. Their first demo was released in November 2003 called ´Dark Reign´. Their second demo/semi full album was released in February 2005.

Dark Reign wrote some new killer stuff and are ready to record the 3rd album. Hans van Kampen will again be involved with producing this monster. One of the songs that will be recorded is ´Premonition´. Check out a live version of this new song on the following YouTube Link: Premonition

Further more... Dark Reign will play at JC Volta in Amsterdam on the 24th of May. Dark Reign will line up with 2 other metal bands called Perdishon and First Fight Down. I nice trivia to know is that the drummer of Perdishon is the little brother of Eduard van Dugteren (one of the guitar shredders of Dark Reign).

Dark Reign will again perform the two new mind blowing songs at Aaltjesrock on the 28th of October.

Dark Reign finds new singer !!!
The year is going fast and Dark Reign played some real good shows at the METALBATTLE ending in the semi final in De Goudvishal in Arnhem. A week later they played their last show with singer Jurriaan ter Burg at the P60 in Amstelveen.

After that we decided that it was best to part ways with Jurriaan. He remains a friend and we wish him all the best in the future with other projects. In the meanwhile we started to look for a new frontman. And after only one week we found Juan Pablo Olarte.

Just immigrated from Colombia Juan searched for a metalband in the Netherlands to lend his brutal vocals.
He needed only one audition to convince us. So we're back in business again and preparing us for the AALTJESROCK festival in October. Just keep in touch with the site for pictures and a bio update soon.

Dear friends, Here is a review written in dutch of our last gig at the MetalBattle. Check it out:

De derde band op deze avond was Dark Reign.
Naarmate het optreden vorderde werd mij al snel duidelijk dat deze band kwam, zag en volledig heerste!!
We hadden ze vorig jaar ook al gezien tijdens de MetalBattle, en dit jaar werd duidelijk dat er veel speelervaring was bijgekomen. De band oogde zelfverzekerd en speelde strak. Met name het enthousiasme van beide gitaristen werkte heel erg aanstekelijk. Maar zoals de jury terecht opmerkte, de zanger moet nog zeker wat werken aan zijn performance. Maar absoluut de terechte winnaar van deze avond.

We are very proud to announce that we won the pre-round of yesterday´s Metalbattle at J.C. Plaza !
Dark Reign also won an invitation to play at Aaltjesrock on the 28th of October 2006.
The semi-finals of the Metalbattle will be held on the 1st and 2nd of April this year.

Yesterday we gave our first performance with our new singer Juriaan and we got raving reactions from the crowd.
We would like to thank Patrick V. Dugteren who again substituted in for guitarist Eddy. Cheers 2 U Patrick !!!

Dark Reign has scheduled another tourdate for this week. Dark Reign will perform on the 23th of December at Flinty´s in Haarlem. Due to circumstances, our drummer Henk won´t be able to perform on that day but lucky for us, our producer Hans van Kampen is willing to take his place. Cheers to Hans and C U on the 23th of December.

We also had our first Dark Reign demo reviewed by Dutch Metal Magazine Headache...
They rated the demo an 8.5... Not bad huh!

Het Amsterdamse Dark Reign bestaat sinds eind 2002 en met deze demo presenteert de band zich aan de wereld. Beginnelingen zijn het echter niet, want de bandleden hebben al jaren ervaring in diverse andere bands. Qua stijl speelt de band melodieuze death metal met veel doom invloeden. Finally DARK REIGN found their new singer.

After several months of searching and auditioning we found JURRIAAN TER BURG.
Jurriaan is 18 years of age and hails from the north of Amsterdam.
His main influence is Sepultura's/Soulfly's MAX CAVELERA.
Right now we are rehearsing the old stuff together and writing new songs.
We'll be back on stage in September/October of this year, maybe sooner.

Soon their will be some pictures also on the site with our new frontman.

The Dark Reign Demo will be out soon... The demo was recorded and mixed on the 1st and 2nd of November 2003.
We chose Hans van Kampen as our producer.
Hans is a big metalfan himself and has lots of experience recording metalbands.
